Carbon Footprint Land Use Analyzer

University Name: Universiti Malaya (UM)

Student Name: Chin Shi Er

Category: Sustainable Environment & Climate

Application Description: Carbon Footprint Land Use Analyzer designed specifically for evaluating unused Malaysian land plots and determining whether they should be developed for community purposes or maintained as agricultural/green space. Inspiration comes from noticing many big area of land does not efficiently use such as University Malaya have many big land area ( in Exam Hall , park opposite the UM central library where rarely seeing people will walk in there and so on) which I think should be better use for student community such as study lounge with cafe, central food court or at least build a bus station with air conditioner ( APU indeed build this for their students). This app is based on the principle of City Ener Analyst (CEA). This kind of project need more time and effort to be improved with several dataset and model training , but I think PartyRock can serve as a basic reference for me to know the main blueprint/feature of this project should have. What this app does: input : land details (location, area size, current condition, surrounding environment) output: 1.Compares carbon impact scenarios for green/agricultural use versus community development, using Malaysia-specific climate data and grid carbon intensity 2. Provides a clear, justified recommendation balancing carbon impact with community needs and sustainability principles from urban energy modeling 3. Offers practical guidance on sustainable design features for Malaysian tropical climate, low-carbon materials, energy systems, and green infrastructure integration.
